The Brick Doorway

Last updated August 2nd 2026 - A silly writing prompt that I might as well post on here

I might come back and update this idrk

It was just another day for Izzy. She had been walking by the city streets as dusk quickly approached, specifically Radway Parkway, the street that connected to her favorite park. This was something that she had done hundreds, if not thousands, of times in her life. Despite the sky casting a pale gold down on the world, something about this felt unsettling. Something snapped her out of her thoughts as she noticed something on the way back to her home- an alleyway.

Connected to what seemed to be a restaurant and a bookstore, she cautiously approached the alleyway. Despite her numerous walks between her home and the park, she had never once noticed this alleyway. She remembered the bookstore and the restaurant, but never the alleyway. Now in an area where most would never see, the buildings dropped their wooden facade to reveal the tired bricks lining the buildings.

On a whim, she approached what seemed to be the side entrance for the bookstore. Each step closer alerted her deep within her mind - something was wrong. Dead wrong. No matter what she tried- leaning to the side, squinting her eyes- it didn’t help clear the nagging feeling in her head. Still, she began to run her fingers across the bricks surrounding the door frame, yet all they caught was the cracks that ran throughout the older structure.

Suddenly, she finally saw something odd. Something inconceivable, something so wrong she wondered if she was just seeing things

    “What the fuck”

That's all for now, thanks for reading this far if you did colon three
